Strange things these blogs. I’ve written before about the writers’ egotistical belief that the world gives a damn about what they think.  After all there are millions of blogs out there, all very much the same. Some are good and some are pretty dull.

This blog for instance is a writing exercise and is rather like gym in the way it allows me to keep the writing muscle toned. To carry the metaphor past its elastic limit, it is like a workout because sometimes you can have a really good one and sometimes it’s a bit perfunctory and rubbish which is also like a wank. *snap*

It is silly of me to accuse all bloggers, including myself of egomania. Most of us simply enjoy the process of writing and the blog is a fantastic outlet. Nobody is forced to read it and the blogger is unencumbered by editors or a corporate agenda. However yesterday my belief in the basic solidity of the blog was shaken to its very core: when I happened upon the website of Arthur Kade. At first I thought it was a spoof and was impressed by the attention to detail shown by the comedian who had crafted this character. However I soon realised that this man was real.

At first I hated him but that soon turned to pity.  It is very difficult to hate somebody who has no self awareness.  When he set the website up he probably thought it would be a good promotional tool. He no doubt envisaged casting directors and studio boss’s flocking to his door when they saw what a nice and talented bloke he was. However it has become his biggest enemy and should be drowned in a canal like a bag of kittens.

Anyway enough of this! The new podcast went out this weekend. It was really nice getting back into saddle of horse that is The Gentleman’s Review.  Of course we only…ahem…did one a couple of weeks ago when we went back in time. But you know what? It felt more like four weeks and all our chat had built up and came spooging out. Actually I feel quite ill.

The only problem with this weeks show was the lack of Skype or the diary of Jeremy Oldsoak. Both of which have been put onto the back burner. Hopefully we’ll get it together for the next recording on the 18th April.

Writing of recordings, on Friday we’re recording our first ever DVD commentary. Not that we’ve produced a DVD we’re simply commentating on somebody else’s hard work and we hope it will be hilarious or at the very least mildly chucklesome. The film will be A View to a Kill so if you have a copy pop it in on Friday evening and listen to our commentary on you iPod or Mp3 player.

Well I think you will agree that in the gymnasium of blog, this entry was a slow walk to the lavatory to have a disappointing poo. Then, I’ve never been inside a gym so wouldn’t know.

Back in the early days of this Century, I made some money by saying the odd funny thing in public. On one of these occasions a fellow funny talker told me that I should write a blog (because that was the sort of thing funny talking people did back then.) Now, I’m not the sort of person who does things the easy way, so I rejected all the ready made blogging platforms and started my own website. Since then it’s become a repository for whatever stuff is bubbling out of my brains and a directory of various podcasts and videos that I’ve made with my friends and is completely unnecessary.
