The Lost Weekend

Yes, all right I have already reneged on what I said and haven’t written a blog for three days.

Happily, I have an excellent excuse. I was in Peru with a beautiful woman. We were visiting some antiquities. A number were destroyed when we killed some dinosaurs, but many are still intact and worth further study. Oh, and the woman I was with drowned a couple of times then fell to her death. However, she’s fine now.

But I miss her terribly. I can still hear her name whispered on every breeze, Lara Croft it says and then I realise that because of my gayness I am only interested in her puzzles.

Yep I’ve spent the weekend playing Tomb Raider Anniversary, which is a remake of the original Tomb Raider game. Now I’ve been a lover of the Tomb Raider series since it came out for the PSX in 1997 and have played, pretty much, every sequel.

What they all have in common is the puzzle element, usually you need to find parts for a machine or your way out of a locked room and all within the wonderfully immersive world of tombs and ancient temples.  You have animals to fight , occasionally humans and devilishly clever booby traps to avoid. It is addictive and incredibly fun so getting anything else done is out of the question.

Oooh! I’ve got to swing her on a rope through that window, right I’m off…

Martin Wolfenden

Back in the early days of this Century, I made some money by saying the odd funny thing in public. On one of these occasions a fellow funny talker told me that I should write a blog (because that was the sort of thing funny talking people did back then.) Now, I’m not the sort of person who does things the easy way, so I rejected all the ready made blogging platforms and started my own website. Since then it’s become a repository for whatever stuff is bubbling out of my brains and a directory of various podcasts and videos that I’ve made with my friends and is completely unnecessary.
