After Edinburgh

Crikey! Has it really been a thousand years since I last blogged my guts out?

Yes it has.

Since we last spoke I’ve been up to Edinburgh for the fringe festival and what fun I had. This year I popped up with my chums Andy and Tom, who you may know from the podcast and we watched loads of shows both on the free and paid fringe and I can safely say that there wasn’t a bad one among them. This is quite unusual, as in previous years – even when I was performing and didn’t get out as much – ten percent of the shows I saw were truly awful. So to see so many good shows indicates that the quality of new performers is higher than ever.

Among all this quality funny stuff, the chaps and me managed to record a podcast. Though this was against all the odds as The Pleasance who had agreed to let us record in one of their venues pulled out at the last minute as did two comedians who gave the reasons that the podcast was too ‘adult’ and that it wouldn’t compliment their target demographic!

So eventually we plopped ourselves down in the beer garden of the Pear Tree and yammered away. It may be apparent to the casual listener that we we all pissed but I hope it doesn’t distract from the complete bollocks were were talking. We were also delighted to welcome our friend Louise to the table; however we hadn’t warned her that we would be recording so she was quiet for most of it, but you can still hear her, in and amongst.

Before I sign off here is a list of a few must see shows. I’ve not written reviews for them but take my word that they are all brilliant.

Anthology 6 | City Cafe | Every Day at 16:30 | Show/Ticket Details

King of Everything | The GRV – Cube | Every Day at 15:00 | Show/Ticket Details

Richard Herring – Hitler Moustache | Underbelly – White Belly | Every Day 20:40| Show/Ticket Details

Ham Yard Tourists| The Meadow B ar| Every Day at 14:00 | Show/Ticket Details

Dan Antopolski – Silent but Deadly | Pleasance Dome | Every Day at 21:20 | Show/Ticket Details

Pappy’s Fun Club | Pleasance One | Every Day at 19:20 | Show/Ticket Details

There were many more but you can hear about those on the podcast.

Time for a beer I think.

Back in the early days of this Century, I made some money by saying the odd funny thing in public. On one of these occasions a fellow funny talker told me that I should write a blog (because that was the sort of thing funny talking people did back then.) Now, I’m not the sort of person who does things the easy way, so I rejected all the ready made blogging platforms and started my own website. Since then it’s become a repository for whatever stuff is bubbling out of my brains and a directory of various podcasts and videos that I’ve made with my friends and is completely unnecessary.
