Nostalgia
For some reason as I plod through my thirties towards the abyss of my forties I seem to be getting more nostalgic. However that nostalgia has no bounds and I proved that last night while I was trawling through my various hard drives and backup disks looking for video files. This is because I’m attempting to consolidate all my video efforts from the last few years into one easily repayable loan…no that’s not right. What I actual mean is upload them to a single YouTube channel. Damn you cable television, your cheap adverts have addled my brain. Ocean Finance have their own television channel now, can you Adam and Eve it? Arghh! I’ve gone all cockney!
So yes nostalgia.
As I was a trawling I discovered a stash of videos I made back in 2007 for a now deceased website. They were of a character I created called Jeremy Tench. He’s an actor who one week can be earning £250,000 for a film and the next be scrimping to top up the electricity meter in his rented flat. One of the reasons I disbanded the character was that Nigel Planer resurrected his character Nicholas Craig for a couple of specials and they made Jeremy look derivative so Jeremy was gently laid to rest.
However while watching these video I became nostalgic. You see I loved doing those little videos, they were far from perfect and I dropped out of character at least twice per episode but they were fun to do and only took about an hour each to film and stick up on the web. In fact they were more fun than my Brain Fluff series because the Tench episodes only involved my sitting in front of a camera and making stuff up about Jeremy’s day to day life.
Anyway you can judge for yourself whether they are any good by popping over to YouTube and taking a look. They are all there but the video quality is variable as they predate HD on the internet. The performance quality is as equally variable. Listen for me forgetting that I’m playing Jeremy and speaking in my own voice. It happens in every video and sometimes for the entire episode. J
So the nostalgia took hold of me and last night I made a decision: Jeremy is coming back and this time he’s in high definition. I’ve got some time next week so can sit down and do a new one and I may even attempt to stay in character or perhaps I won’t, just for old time’s sake.
Cold cuts for tea.
